Under the word "think"...

I already knew about the method of thinking, which are expanding and narrowing thinking field. After this class, I able to know more method of thinking, divergent thinking and convergent thinking. Divergent thinking is the expanding thinking field and convergent thinking is the narrowing thinking field. And according to Mr Yap Sau Bin, some people are good at divergent thinking. However, some people are good at convergent thinking. Usually no one are good at both divergent and convergent thinking.

There are 2 kinds of mind map, logical mind map and associated mind map. An associated mind map we are able to generate random words and also show the links between words that seemingly have no connection. Besides that, the logical mind map is directly connected to stereotypes. The Logical mind map comprises of solely stereotype words.

On the other hand, I learned one new word, called stereotype. Firstly I completely don't understand what that means, then after the class, it's a new word to add in my dictionary, although I not yet completely understand. So I use online dictionary and successfully get the word.(http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/stereotype) This is what I found:

–noun
1.a process, now often replaced by more advanced methods, for making metal printing plates by taking a mold of composed type or the like in papier-mâché or other material and then taking from this mold a cast in type metal.
2.a plate made by this process.
3.a set form; convention.
4.Sociology . a simplified and standardized conception or image invested with special meaning and held in common by members of a group: The cowboy and Indian are American stereotypes.

–verb (used with object)
5.to make a stereotype of.
6.to characterize or regard as a stereotype: The actor has been stereotyped as a villain.
7.to give a fixed form to.

We are been told to create mind map about ourselves. Here's mine:

Humorous, Adventurous, yet Emotional

Just as my title wrote, the only thing can include these 3 elements, humorous, adventurous and emotional is a story. In this post, I am going to share a movie, which include these 3 elements, it is called Toy Story 3 that was just up to cinema last week.

Toy Story 3 continue the story from previous movies. The story is about the toys are mistakenly delivered to a day-care center instead of the attic right before their owner, Andy leaves for college, and it's up to the hero, Woody to convince the other toys that they weren't abandoned and to return home. The story is very special and the adventure is fresh. Moreover, at the climax part, it makes me feel nervous and exciting as the adventure is very nice. Besides that, near the end of the movie, where Andy feels like want to keep the toys, but he has to give up his toys and give to another worthy owner as he is going to college soon. That part is the most emotional part in the movie and I nearly cry out of touched when I saw the farewell of Woody and Andy.

Ideas Creating

According to Mr Mustafa, a creative person is one who generates new ideas while the creative process is how these new ideas, solutions, and inventions are produced.

Being creative is seeing the same thing as everybody else but thinking of something different
                                                          --Shekerijian D. 1990

Frankly, I like this quote a lot...

Mr Mustafa also taught me about novelty, creativity, innovation and invention. I am curious to know what can I get from internet about these 4, so I made research.

Novelty -  something new or unusual (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/novelty)

Creativity
- the process of bringing something new into being (by Linda Naiman http://www.creativityatwork.com/articlesContent/whatis.htm)
Innovation -  a change in the thought process for doing something, or the useful application of new inventions or discoveries (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Innovation)

Invention - a creation (a new device or process) resulting from study and experimentation (http://wordnetweb.princeton.edu/perl/webwn?s=invention)

So these are what I found.

Uh eeh uh ah ah ting tang walla walla bing bang

I am going to share a song in this entry. The song is called Witch Doctor by Cartoons.

Here's the lyric:

Hey Witchdoctor, give us the magic words.
-All right, you go: uh ih uh ah ah, ting tang wallawallabingbang

All right!
[Chorus]
ooh eeh ooh ahah, ting tang wallawallabingbang
ooh eeh ooh ahah, tingtang wallawallabingbang
ooh eeh ooh ahah, ting tang wallawallabingbang
ooh eeh ooh ahah, tingtang wallawallabingbang

dou dou doudou dou dou dou
[Chorus]

dou dou dou dou
I told the witchdoctor, I was in love with you
dou dou dou dou
I told the witchdoctor, I was in love with you
dou dou dou dou
And than the witchdoctor, he told me what to do

he told me:
[Chorus]

dou dou dou dou
I told the witchdoctor, you didn't love me true
dou dou dou dou
I told the witchdoctor, you didn't love me nice
dou dou dou dou
And than the witchdoctor, he gave me this advice

[Chorus]

You can keep your love from me just like you were a miser,
And I'll admit it wasn't very smart, (eyeyeyey)
But I went out to find my-self a guy that's so much wiser,
And he told me the way to win your heart:

dou dou doudou dou dou dou
ooh eeh ooh ahah,... (dou dou dou dou dou dou dou)
ooh eeh ooh ahah,... (dou dou dou dou dou dou dou)
ooh eeh ooh ahah,... (dou dou dou dou dou dou dou)
ooh eeh ooh ahah,... (dou dou dou dou dou dou dou)
ooh eeh ooh ahah, tingtang wallawallabingbang

Come on and:
[Chorus]

Yeah! Finally!

Finally, one of the questions in my mind for so long already solved. The question is, what is creativity. In the class, Mr Yap Sau Bin explained to us about creativity. To me, creativity means an ability for certain people who is able to come out with many new ideas from time to time, but looks like it is not exactly correct.

I always thought that only certain people with some talent will have creativity. After this class, only I realise that creativity not only include one's talent, but also consist of that person's hard work, thanks to Mr Yap Sau Bin. I also just notice that most great ideas are a combination of old concepts presented in a fresh, new package that provides us with a sense of novelty according to lecture notes.

Besides that, since Mr Radzi ask us to edit one of our friends' photo for them as profile picture, I exchange my photo with Miss Yong Hooi Khim. This is my work on her photo.

tada~

However, she also done some work on my photo and I already make it my profile picture. Here's the edited version of my photo.

Grand Theft Auto IV

I had been introduced a computer game, called Grand Theft Auto IV, a very interesting game. The graphic design is very realistic and detail compare to many games I played before, although what I can do inside the game is much too fake, such as snatch a police car, shoot people, run over someone and etc.

This game is given 9.0 score in GameSpot, which is a website with lots of games information. According to the rating, I conclude that I am not the only one who like this game a lot. Anyway, base on the storyline, gameplay, graphic design and character design, I like this game very much.

The Graphic is very very nice.

Necessary For Us

Today is the first class for one interesting class, Creative Studies. What the lecturer said, the way the lecturer brings the information and what's in lecturer's mind are much more interesting than other classes I had been attended before. Everything in the class are pretty fresh for me. The thing I remember the most was what the lecturer asked in the class, which was about the eyes. The lecturer, Mr Radzi asked us which place is the most suitable for the eyes to grow. Mr Radzi's opinion was in the tip of the finger, as we will be able to peep or observe our surroundings easily and hard to be discovered. The idea was very very very weird, but it is very very very very interesting, and I won't hear these special ideas in any other class. I think this subject is necessary for us, who study in Faculty of Creative Multimedia.

I believe I would be able to create more creative ideas after I finish this subject, and of course, enhance my creativity. I hope I will be able to enjoy this class in this semester.

Oh yeah~ It's First Entry

This blog is created as the assignment for one of the subjects I take in this semester, Creative Studies. As the first entry, I think that I should introduce myself here.

So let's start with my name. My name is Ong Yui Huan, born in year 1990 April 19th. I live in a small town called Kuala Krai in a big state called Kelantan. I can't say myself is fat, but for some reasons I have one big tummy. I think one of the reasons is the things I like to do the most, which is eating. I was an active sportsman until I have internet in my home. Although I still do some sports, but much less than last time, and the time I spend for sport even worse since I enter university. That's the second reason by the way.

Well, I think this is basically enough for brief introduction. Here I'll share one of my favourite photos that I had taken. Of course, my friends did say that I am one narcissistic guy.

Just like I said, I am sportsman.. XD
